Menchies Yogurt Machine

faithful likeness and image candy

While in Padua, Italy, visited the famous basilica of St. Anthony. I remember that one of the columns inside the temple I saw a picture of the Franciscan, as a strong, powerful man - maybe even with a tendency to obesity - a serious facial expression. His hand hung in the gesture of one who teaches.

asked one of the brothers who I served the faithful: Who is in this picture? The answer was: This image is a painting of St. oldest representation. Anthony of Padua, called St. Anthony of Lisbon, which have been preserved to our times. It was probably painted by Giotto, or one of his students. This is historically the closest representation of a saint, we know.

went to the sacristy, where the faithful queue was buying all kinds of rosaries and religious articles. Also sold copies of the image, and images with an image of the same saint, printed in our time. I bought the copy and the image to be able to compare the two to present the famous Franciscan saint. Image

presented Ruddy St. Anthony, whose features did not betray any anxiety, pain, anger or concern or even effort. Face, nearly devoid of beard, the impression of porcelain, and her lips looked as if it never uttered a word. Rather, if they were open only in order to swallow some gruel ...

eyes stared straight ahead at something that does not seem worthy of attention. The figure completely devoid of expression. But it is precisely this image to sell in large quantities ... Meanwhile, authentic reproductions of the image of the holy were rarely purchased by visitors. This disparity has had a tremendous impression on me.

Later, during a meeting with friends, we analyzed and compared the two shows. Strengthened our belief that there is some obscure school of spirituality, seeking to deform according to the Catholic piety przesłodzonego model, which was just an example of the archetypal image of the personality of St. Anthony.
