It is, however, the recent events we have witnessed (Judgement of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, the struggle with the cross in the XIV LO Wrocław), also recalled the patriotic sense of the most sacred symbol. Indeed, the Cross throughout the centuries was accompanied by generations of Poles in their struggle for freedom, full of blood, sweat and tears. What's more - many times our ancestors were forced to fight for it just to be able to his love and devotion to Christ's cross to show publicly.
Nobody can deny nor Christianity rooted in our culture and history, or the merits of the Catholic Church in Polish history. The accepted date of creation of the Polish state is the year 966, which is the baptism of Mieszko I. It is worth to recall some moving event, which took place before the January Uprising in the Russian zone. Well, April 8, 1861, during a patriotic demonstration at Castle Square in Warsaw, a monk was carrying the cross. When he was shot and fell to the ground, a Jewish student who is near - Michael Landy - argued that the cross and carry it further. Again he was severely wounded and died the next day. Jew was killed, bringing the symbol of a stranger to their faith - is a beautiful testimony show that the cross is not only a sign of redemption for Christians, but it is also a symbol of Polish culture, deeply rooted in our identity. He has always maintained the spirit of our ancestors, where they suffered and died: in Siberia, in the Nazi concentration camps and the communist camps.
In light of these facts showing that the presence of the cross in the Polish public space is something completely natural, his words sound absurd today's enemies, according to which cross in a Polish school is "indoctrination." It is also the more ridiculous that those people today could not preach this type of nonsense, if not for the dedication of those who loved and wanted to cross that love to be able to show publicly. Enemies of the cross treat our nation's Christian traditions, without which the Poles are not able to understand their own identity, as a relic of the past. Remember that, forgoing its Christian roots of the peoples of Europe have always ended in bloodshed and barbarity.
